Layered paper artwork is designed to reward careful viewing. As lighting changes throughout the day, the multiple layers create shifting shadows and depth that become part of the viewing experience.
With proper care, your artwork can be enjoyed for many years.
Display
For the best visual effect:
- Display the artwork indoors.
- Choose a location with consistent temperature and humidity.
- Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade paper over time.
- Position the artwork where natural or accent lighting can create gentle shadows between the layers.
- Avoid locations directly above fireplaces, heating vents, or humidifiers.
Many collectors enjoy displaying layered artwork where changing daylight reveals different visual qualities throughout the day.
Cleaning
The artwork requires very little maintenance.
- Dust the frame or protective glass with a soft microfiber cloth.
- Never spray cleaning products directly onto the artwork or frame.
- If cleaning glass, apply cleaner to the cloth—not the artwork.
Do not attempt to clean the paper layers themselves.
Humidity
Paper is a natural material and responds to changes in humidity.
Normal indoor conditions are ideal. Avoid displaying artwork in bathrooms with showers, near kitchen steam, or other locations with prolonged high humidity.
Handling
Handle framed artwork by the frame, not by the front surface.
If unframed artwork must be handled, hold it carefully by its edges and avoid touching the layered paper surfaces.
Storage
If artwork will be stored:
- Keep it flat or upright in a secure location.
- Store it in a dry, climate-controlled environment.
- Protect it from moisture and excessive heat.
