8.25″x8.25″/210x210mm mounted on 12″x12″ mat board

2024 This architectural component of this piece is the east window of the Carlisle Cathedral in Carlisle, England, based on a drawing in an 1840’s book. What appears as stained glass is a colored photograph showing tracks left by subatomic particles from a particle accelerator at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. In it, atomic particles, forced to accelerate at extremely high speeds in a particle accelerator, leave spiraling paths of tiny bubbles as they move through a liquid-filled bubble chamber.
